Composed of natural and sandalwood beading on Japanese waxed cord with a satin drawstring, cascading into handwoven double-roped silk-wool blend tassels — this piece balances structure with fluidity. Each element is assembled by hand and sourced ethically — every inch is a completely custom, original design.
Each skirt carries an array of 1,365 wooden beads.
SIZING
Strategically measured to be one size fits all.
Drawstring satin waistband measurements:
- Smallest size: approximately 20 inches (20 inches at its most cinched)
- Largest size: approximately 42 inches( 42 inches at its fullest)
FIT
Built to move, not to constrain. One size, cut to sit low, high waisted and draped loosely — the silhouette adjusts to the body, not the other way around.
CARE
Handcrafted from natural materials, this piece asks for the same care you'd give any object worth keeping.
- Store flat or hanging, away from direct sunlight — prolonged exposure can dull the wood's natural tone.
- Keep dry. Wood beads absorb moisture and can swell, crack, or warp; silk tassels water-stain easily. (slightly darkens the tassels if emerged in salt water - takes 4 days to dry )
- Handle the tassels with care — brush out with fingers rather than a comb, and avoid pulling on individual threads.
- Do not machine wash, dry clean, or steam. Spot clean only, with a soft, barely damp cloth, and let air dry fully before storing.
- Because each bead and fringe is individually strung by hand, avoid excessive pulling or stretching at the tassels — treat the drawstring with care - not everyday elastic.
DESIGNERS NOTES:
Each tassel has been assembled with care and is meant to be worn multiple times in multiples ways.
I personally straighten the tassels using a heating iron up to 450 degrees. The tassels are immaculate quality - they should not change in texture when worn - as I've worn them, danced in them and sweated in them multiple times. Salt water (dumping the entire skirt) did not loosen any of the looms but did slightly change discoloration of wood elements. While I do not recommend jumping into the ocean with this skirt - I definitely do not want you to be afraid to live and bring life into these very elements.
